National Women in Agriculture Day

National Women in Agriculture Day is designated to recognize and honor the countless contributions women make across the agricultural industry — from producing and selling agricultural products to educating, leading, and mentoring the next generation of farmers, researchers, and agricultural professionals.

Women make up a significant portion of agricultural producers in the U.S., play essential roles in agribusiness and education, and help foster innovation, community engagement, and workforce development across rural and urban agricultural systems.

House Resolution 260, introduced in the 119th Congress, formally recognizes this day in Congress and highlights the vital contributions women make to agriculture at all levels — from hands-on farm work to leadership, education, and innovation.

This day also highlights the importance of encouraging and empowering women to enter and lead in high‑demand agricultural fields, strengthen food security, and support efforts to “feed a hungry world” through their leadership, skills, and contributions.
