The National Women in Agriculture Association (NWIAA) is an agriculture-focused organization with chapters across the United States and internationally. NWIAA supports farming communities through farmer assistance programs, policy engagement, and partnerships that address agricultural and rural development needs.

Position Overview

The State Director / Legislative Outreach Coordinator is responsible for supporting NWIAA’s legislative engagement efforts at the state level. This role focuses on coordinating communication with legislative offices, assisting with bill sponsorship outreach, and supporting participation in policy briefings and meetings.

This is a remote, part-time role; however, candidates must reside in Tennessee, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Florida, or California due to state and federal level legislative coordination requirements. The role is suited for individuals with experience or interest in legislative affairs, government relations, or public policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain communication with state legislative offices and policy staff

  • Coordinate outreach related to bill sponsorship and legislative initiatives

  • Assist in organizing and confirming participation for virtual legislative briefings

  • Identify and connect with agricultural stakeholders, including producers and community leaders

  • Provide regular updates on outreach activities and engagement progress

  • Support coordination of NWIAA farmer assistance initiatives at the state level

Qualifications

  • Interest or experience in legislative affairs, public policy, or government relations

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to engage professionally with legislative staff and stakeholders

  • Organized and able to manage outreach and follow-up activities

  • Self-directed and comfortable working in a remote environment

Position Details

  • Part-time commitment: up to 20 hours during peak periods

  • Flexible, remote schedule

  • Compensation based on board-designated merit system
