The National Women in Agriculture Association (NWIAA) is one of the largest agriculture-focused organizations in the world, with over 120 chapters globally. For nearly two decades, NWIAA has been dedicated to empowering women in agriculture, strengthening farming communities, advancing education, and advocating for policies that support sustainable agriculture and rural development.
NWIAA works at the intersection of agriculture, economic development, and public policy, providing farmer assistance programs, legislative advocacy, and community partnerships that support women farmers across the United States and internationally.
As part of its historic 2026 Year of the International Woman Farmer initiative, NWIAA is expanding its leadership network to advance national and state-level agricultural legislation, including the introduction of the Sustainable Science Academy & Farmer Assistance Act.
Position Overview
The State Director / Legislative Sponsorship & Marketing Manager is a high-visibility leadership role responsible for advancing NWIAA’s legislative and economic development initiatives at the state level.
This position focuses on building relationships with legislators, coordinating bill sponsorship efforts, mobilizing grassroots participation, and promoting NWIAA programs through strategic outreach and partnerships.
This is an independent, remote role ideal for a mission-driven leader who is organized, proactive, and comfortable engaging policymakers, sponsors, and agricultural stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with state legislators and policy stakeholders
Coordinate bill sponsorship efforts and legislative advocacy initiatives
Secure 10–20 participants per virtual legislative meeting
Promote NWIAA initiatives through community outreach, partnerships, and strategic marketing
Identify and engage sponsors, farmer leaders, and community partners
Provide weekly progress updates to national leadership
Support implementation of NWIAA’s 15+ State Farmers Aid & Assistance Program
Advance initiatives aligned with the 2026 Year of the International Woman Farmer
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
Passionate about agriculture, farming, and economic development
Strong communicator with established community connections
Comfortable engaging legislators, sponsors, and public stakeholders
Organized, professional, and mission-aligned
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Experience in marketing, sponsorship development, advocacy, or public affairs is preferred
